What began as a simple morning trip turned into one of those unexpectedly memorable Hoi An experiences. There was thoughtful architecture, detailed clay work, miniature landmarks and several unusual statues that gave us plenty to laugh about.

We spent longer at the park than we had expected. The buildings immediately caught our attention, but it was often the smaller details that kept us looking.
A face worked into a wall, a tiny roofline on a clay monument or an unexpected figure tucked beside a larger installation made the visit feel playful rather than formal.
Thanh Ha works best as a relaxed half-day outing. There is no need to rush through the exhibitions or turn the visit into a tightly scheduled tour.

Thanh Ha Terracotta Park is a museum and exhibition complex dedicated to the pottery traditions of Thanh Ha village.
Opened in 2015, the park sits within an area long associated with handmade pottery and terracotta work.

We enjoyed taking the scenic route through Cua Dai, Tran Hung Dao and Hung Vuong.
As we moved away from the busier parts of Hoi An, the roads gradually became quieter. Local homes, small businesses and glimpses of life near the river replaced the denser streets closer to town.
The journey became part of the outing rather than simply a way to reach the attraction.
How Far Is Thanh Ha Terracotta Park From Heron House?
Thanh Ha Terracotta Park is usually around a 20–25-minute drive from Heron House.
Travel time can vary with traffic, weather and road conditions, so check the route shortly before leaving.

Morning is usually the best time to visit Thanh Ha Terracotta Park.
Arriving between 8:00 am and 10:30 am gives you cooler weather for the outdoor sections and softer light for photographs.

A late-afternoon visit can also feel pleasant, but allow enough time to see both the park and village before closing.
We would leave after breakfast, explore at an easy pace and return around lunchtime or in the early afternoon.

Allow around two hours for the Terracotta Park or three to four hours if you also visit the village and join a workshop.
The park does not need an entire day.
